Sound insulation predictions

Acoulatis offers the ability to calculate the airborne sound insulation of walls, and both the airborne and the impact sound insulation of floors in third-octave frequency bands, including single number evaluation according to ISO 717.

Acoulatis primarily use Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) as a base for the load-bearing structure. It will later also support other type of load-bearing structures like concrete and wooden frame systems.

Features

Functionalities You Will Love

01

High Level of Accuracy

Acoulatis is a fast, relaible and accurate tool that calculates the sound insulation of walls and floors with a framework in wood.

The calculations are based on real measurements in laboratory.

03

Focus on Wood

Acoulatis will primary focus on calculation models for wooden systems. It will start with CLT followed by wooden frame systems & LVL later on.

Other materials, such as concrete, will be introduced later on as well.

02

Continous Development

We assure that the app will be developt continously with new constructions and data to improve the theorectical models and calculations.

04

Modern Tech

With our cloud-based app, you can calculate the sound insulation with ease from any computer without the need of a dongle.

All you need is an internet connection and you are good to go.

The Algorithm in Acoulatis

The algorithm in Acoulatis is based on empirical equations combined with characteristic acoustic models, verified against numerous laboratory measurements in accredited laboratories.

The algorithm takes several parameters into account to calculate the sound insulation of building elements, including:

  • the internal loss factors and the critical frequencies of panels,

  • the resonace frequency of cavities, and

  • the resonance frequency of impact boards for a floating floor system.
