Acoulatis – Professional Sound Insulation Prediction Software
Predict airborne and impact sound insulation of walls and floors with third-octave frequency band precision (50-5000 Hz) with high accuracy.
Acoulatis is a building acoustics software tool developed by Sonusoft for acoustic consultants, engineers, researchers, architects, and manufacturers who require accurate predictions.
Sound insulation predictions
Acoulatis predicts the airborne and impact sound insulation performance of building elements, including: timber and steel frame walls and floors, Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT), Laminated Veener Lumber (LVL), concrete and hybrid assemblies.
Acoulatis focuses on the physical behavior of individual building elements and their frequency-dependent transmission characteristics. All our modules start with a base configuration where you can add on many different type of components, like frame systems, panels, impact boards and floor covering.
This makes Acoulatis ideal for early-stage design evaluations, construction system developments, and also optimizations for late-stage design evaluations. All modules present single number evaluations according to ISO 717 and ASTM.

Features
Functionalities that will help your workflow
01
Empirical models with high prediction accuracy
Acoulatis is a fast, relaible and accurate sound insulation prediction software. The accuracy in the predictions is typically within a 3 dB margin with higher accuracy for manufacturer products used together with massive elements, like a raised floor or a suspended ceiling. We also have a neural network AI prediction model for the lightweight frame walls with high accuracy.
The calculations are based on empirical equations that have been verified against real measurements in laboratory.
03
Broad range of materials and systems
Acoulatis supports a lot of wooden systems, like Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT), Laminated Veener Lumber (LVL) and wooden frame systems for walls and floors.
Acoulatis also supports other materials like concrete slabs and aerated concrete blocks. Soon, hollow-core slabs and hollow brick will be supported as well.
02
Third octave frequency band predictions (50-5000 Hz)
Predictions are performed across third-octave frequency bands. This allows users to identify coincidence dip regions, analyze mass–spring–mass behavior, evaluate stiffness-controlled regions and study high-frequency decay behavior.
Rather than relying solely on single-number ratings, users can evaluate the complete acoustic curve.
This improves engineering transparency and design reliability.
04
Modern Tech with a cloud-based platform
With our cloud-based acoustic prediction software, you can calculate the sound insulation with ease from any computer without the need of a dongle.
All you need is a web browser and an internet connection, and you are good to go. Projects are also autosaved within the application.
The Algorithm in Acoulatis
The algorithm in Acoulatis is based on empirical equations combined with characteristic acoustic models, verified against numerous laboratory measurements in accredited laboratories. Predictions are made in third-octave frequency bands and presented with single number raitings following ISO and ASTM standards, together with spectrum adaptation terms.
The algorithm takes several parameters into account to calculate the sound insulation of building elements, including:
-
the internal loss factors and the critical frequencies of panels,
-
the resonace frequency of cavities, and
-
the resonance frequency of impact boards for a floating floor system.
We also have a tab for approximated field values where the predictions are based on measurements from the field, so that you in early-stage design can estimate the sound insulation in a finished building.
Our supported modules
Acoulatis consists of seven specialized modules. There are Single and Double massive element wall and floor modules where you can combine load-bearing elements with additional layers like panels, frames and impact boards. There are lightweight frame wall and floor modules with wood or steel frames. Last, there is a CLT rib panel module.
This modular approach allows professionals to configure the software based on project requirements.

Improve Your Sound Insulation Prediction Accuracy
Acoulatis is designed for acoustic consultants, engineers, construction manufacturers, research institutions and universities.
It is particularly valuable where lightweight constructions are dominant. With Acoulatis, you can: evaluate constructions accurately, optimize building systems and reduce uncertainty in acoustic performance.
